Tribute to Willaston man who died in collision
A Willaston man has lost his life following a collision on the A500 at Barthomley.
Neil Dey, 31, died following the collision, which occurred at around 5.37am on Monday November 7, involving a van and a HGV.
Mr Dey, who was driving the van, was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries but sadly died.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “The driver of the HGV was taken to Leighton Hospital with injuries which are believed to be minor.”
In a tribute Mr Dey’s family said: “Neil was an outstanding young man.
“We know how much he loved Eadaoin (his fiancée), and his family.
“We know how much he was loved. We will miss him always.”
Following the collision the A500 was closed at its junction with the M6 junction 16 while emergency services worked at the scene.
Two fire engines from Crewe, one from Sandbach and one from Winsford attended the scene.
A Cheshire Fire Service spokesman said: “Crews released one casualty from one of the vehicles and handed them into the care of paramedics.”
