Nantwich festival line-up revealed

Therapy? shoot 2014

The headline acts in this year’s Words and Music Festival have been announced. The festival, now in its tenth year, will take place across the town from October 9 to 15.

This year’s headline artists will include Northern Irish, alternative rock band Therapy? (pictured).

The band will perform an accoustic set at the Civic Hall on Friday October 13, followed the night after by Tom Robinson and Band.

Britain’s first female poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy will perform at the Player’s Theatre on the Saturday afternoon.

One of the festival’s organisers and local singing talent Thea Gilmore will perform at the Civic on Saturday evening.

Multi award winning folk superstar Seth Lakeman will play a special concert in St Mary’s Church on the Tuesday evening.

Possibly England’s most famous living poet and the presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Poetry Please, Roger McGough will appear at the Crown Hotel Ballroom on the Wednesday night.

Indie rock trio Little Comets, who broke into the Top 40 in 2015 with their third album Hope Is Just A State Of Mind, will perform at the Ballroom on Monday evening.

Their infectiously breezy songs, often with anthemic choruses, have drawn comparisons to The 1975 and Vampire Weekend.

Bristol based Beth Rowley (above), whose influences range from gospel and blues to contemporary pop, appears at the Ballroom on the Sunday afternoon.

On the Sunday evening the venue hosts Mark Radcliffe’s Galleon Blast.

Featuring banjo, mandolin, accordion, fiddle, whistle, guitar, bass and drums the sea dogs from round the Cheshire Horn play rollicking original songs, nautically flavoured covers and grog infused traditional tunes.
