Steve Cradock comes to Nantwich

Founder member of Ocean Colour Scene, Steve Cradock and his band will be returning to the Crown Hotel in Nantwich on December 4 after playing his first ever live gig at the Crown back in 1990.

This time he will be returning with the original band that went onto become Ocean Colour Scene.

The Crown’s Phillip Martin said:  “I remember the gig so well, one of our long term residents’ son was playing in the band, that’s how the gig came about, they were amazing, you could see then that they would go onto be a top UK band, which they did and are huge all around the world now.”

Art talk at Nantwich Museum

A talk at Nantwich Museum, postponed from September, will now take place on Saturday November 8 at 3pm.

Mary Hennessy-Jones and Eira Cotteril will speak on Arts and the First World War.

Tickets cost £3 (members £2) and are available from the museum shop.

Spooky goings-on in Nantwich

The Nantwich Spooktacular brought some ghoulish fun to Dorfold Park at the weekend.

The event proved hugely popular and featured a giant bonfire, fireworks display, funfair, fancy dress competition and more.

Paul Compton, of  Nantwich Events Photography Team, who took this photograph, said: “There were some really good costumes made by parents that took a lot of time getting them right, the kids walked around the fairground like little monster of the night.”

Fundraiser at Nantwich Civic Hall

A charity evening takes place at Nantwich Civic Hall on Halloween night.

Raising money for the Crewe and District branch of Parkinson’s UK, the evening features entertainment from the Matt Stafford Duo.

The event will also feature a silent auction, tombola and disco.

Nantwich Family Films At 4 presents

Nantwich’s Family Films At 4 club will present Maleficent on Sunday October 19.

The group screens films at Nantwich Methodist Church on the third Sunday of every month at 4pm (doors open at 3.45pm).

A family ticket costs £10 and covers up to two adults and four children, with individual tickets priced at £4.

Nantwich Film Club screens new thriller

Nantwich Film Club presents a screening of The Two Faces of January on Monday November 10 at the Civic Hall.

Based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1964 novel of the same name, the film stars Viggo Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst, and Oscar Isaac.

It is a thriller set in 1962 centred on a con artist, his wife, and a stranger who flee Athens after one of them is caught up in the death of a private detective.

Entry is £5 on the door. Doors open at 7pm.

Undeterred by the heavy rain from the previous night’s gig, scores of people were queuing from the main entrance to the car park awaiting entry, many of those already inside were enjoying a picnic before the evenings entertainment commenced.

Spectacular societies fun in Nantwich

Club and Society members from all over the borough will be in Nantwich Town Centre between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 19th July, to show off the huge breadth of activities that take place locally – and to give everyone the chance to get involved.

Over 30 groups will take part in the ‘Societies Spectacular’, run by Nantwich Town Council, and now in it’s third year. Activities and demonstrations as diverse as Astronomy, Amateur Dramatics, Scuba Diving, Arts and Crafts, Fitness and Cinema will be represented at the event.

Hosted by RedShift Radio and Wulvern, this summer extravaganza promises to be a great day out with activities and entertainment for all ages including cheese and wine tasting, cinema zone, face painting from Hullabaloo, petting zoo with Zoo2U, prize treasure hunt, pub quiz, pamper treats, photo booth, cookery workshops with KidzKitchen and the Women’s Institute, arts and crafts with Oopsadaisy doodle, games and competitions.
