Nantwich Players’ new comedy drama
Nantwich Players present their new drama Breezeblock Park in December.
The play tells the story of a typical Liverpool family, together on Christmas Eve.
But beneath the surface of their festive cheer are jealousies, quarrels and a big secret.
As the alcohol begins to flow, tongues loosen and a certain piece of news threatens to tear the family apart.
Penned by Willy Russell, the play was originally produced in 1975, with a cast that included Julie Walters and Pete Postlethwaite.
It represents the directorial debut for Peter Nawn at Nantwich Players, who said: “In my opinion Breezeblock Park is not only a funny play, but a reasonable account of what happens when families just grind on and on.
“It is fun, observational and though set in the seventies it is still very relevant to today’s audience.
“We all know someone like these characters in our lives.”
Performances at the Love Lane theatre will be at 7.45pm from December 9 to 17.
Tickets are £8 from Nantwich Tourist Office on 01270 600727.
